Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They allow the site to recognise your browser, remember preferences, and keep you signed in between visits. TryNote uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session tokens) to operate the service securely and reliably.

Types of cookies we use

Essential
Required for the service to function. These include authentication session tokens that keep you signed in, CSRF protection tokens, and security identifiers. You cannot opt out of essential cookies without losing access to core features.
Examples: Firebase Auth session, security nonce
Functional
Remember your preferences so you do not have to re-enter them on each visit — for example, your feed sort preference or notification settings.
Examples: sort order, UI preferences stored in local storage
Performance
Help us understand how users navigate TryNote so we can improve reliability and speed. Data collected is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Examples: Vercel edge analytics (page load times, error rates)
Advertising
TryNote does not currently use advertising cookies or share data with ad networks. If this changes we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

Third-party services that set cookies

Some cookies on TryNote are set by third-party service providers we use to operate the platform. Each provider has its own privacy and cookie policy.

Firebase / Google (Authentication, Database, Storage)

Firebase sets session cookies to manage your login state and to protect against unauthorised access. Google processes data on servers that may be located outside your country. Data transfers from the EEA are covered by Google's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Managing and disabling cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies at any time. Be aware that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in or using core features of TryNote.

Instructions for common browsers:

EU users: if we add non-essential cookies in the future, we will present a cookie consent banner and allow granular opt-in before those cookies are set.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove cookies or services. We will update the effective date at the top and, for material changes, notify users via the platform or email. Continuing to use TryNote after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
